Norman, OK — Senior Day in Norman turned into a statement, as #1 Oklahoma dismantled Oklahoma State 52-7 in the 119th meeting of the Bedlam Series. Behind six touchdown passes from QB John Mateer and a record-setting defensive performance, the Sooners made sure there was no doubt who owns the state.
Pre-game, Coach Lovie Mahawg even took a moment to appreciate OSU’s head man.
“I’ll say this — Mike Gundy’s mullet is a work of art. Still doesn’t win you ballgames, though.”

Mateer and Tatum Lead the Charge
Mateer was clinical, going 27-for-37 with six TDs, carving up the Cowboys’ secondary. His favorite target was Taylor Tatum, who piled up 81 rushing yards, a rushing score, and 3 receiving touchdowns.
Mahawg couldn’t contain his pride:
“I’ve said it a hundred times — Taylor Tatum’s my guy. He’s tough, reliable, and mean as a junkyard dog with a steak bone.”
Tatum wasn’t alone in the fun. Jovantae Barnes added 30 rushing yards and 2 receiving touchdowns, while Jaydn Ott and Xavier Robinson combined for another 78 yards on the ground.
Defense Shuts the Door
The Sooners’ defense was suffocating, holding OSU to just 124 total yards, including -47 rushing yards.
R. Mason Thomas was unstoppable, notching 4 sacks and breaking the Big 12 single-season sack record with 21 (and counting). Backup DT Jayden Jackson, starting for the injured Gracen Halton, was ferocious with 5 tackles, 4 TFL, 2.5 sacks, a forced fumble, and a recovery.
“When Thomas comes off the edge, it’s like a tornado hitting your house. You don’t stop it, you just pray it passes fast,” Mahawg said.
On the back end, Kendal Daniels snagged an interception, while Marvin Jones Jr. and Sammy Omosigho added relentless pressure.
“Our defense doesn’t just hit — they embarrass you. You can’t run, you can’t breathe, and sooner or later, you quit,” Mahawg barked.

Bedlam Belongs to OU
The Sooners now lead the all-time series 92-20-7, extending their dominance after OSU’s brief win last year.
“They got us last time, but that was a blip. Tonight was the reminder: Oklahoma runs this rivalry, and don’t you forget it.”
With the win, OU moves to 10-0 and now heads on the road to face UTEP in El Paso.
“We’ll enjoy this one for about five minutes, then it’s back to work. This train don’t stop just ‘cause we smashed our in-state little brother.”
